Before your session

WHAT To EXPECT?

The sauna is located within its own private therapy room which will be stocked with a robe, towel and water for your personal use. Prior to your arrival the sauna will be preheated to 65 degrees celsius for a session duration of 45 minutes. We recommend you enter the sauna undressed or with minimal garments (ie. swimwear or cotton underwear). For hygiene purposes, we ask that you sit on a towel for the duration of your session. During your session you have the option to listen to relaxation music, guided meditations and podcasts which can be played through the internal speakers. The sauna has also been fitted with light therapy and we encourage you to experiment with the different colours during your session. For maximum benefit we recommend a sauna session of 65 degrees celsius for 40 mins, however if you need to take a break you are able to enter and exit the sauna as many times as you like during the session. Shower, toilet and change room facilities are available to freshen up after your session.

Do's and Don'ts

Before

If it’s your first sauna experience, try to arrive 5-10 mins early so we have the opportunity to welcome you and talk you through your first session. It’s important to make sure you are well hydrated before and after any sauna session for maximum benefit and detoxification. An hour before your sauna try to drink at least 500mls of good quality filtered water. If you can, limit the amount of personal care products you put on before a session. Clean skin will make it easier for your body to cleanse and clear out all the toxins and impurities. Be prepared to get hot, sweaty and enjoy some deep cleansing relaxation.

After

If it is possible to shower, do so as soon as you get out in order to wash off any lingering toxins. Ideally, the shower should be cool to warm but preferably not hot (if you can’t shower, just wipe yourself down with a wet towel). Ideally, avoid using any soap, shampoo or moisturiser after your sauna as it can block up the lovely open pores of the skin and stop the post-sauna detox effect. Drink another 500ml of water over 10-30 minutes. Resting for 10-30 minutes after your sauna is ideal. It helps transition the body back to homeostasis (balance) and decreases the chance of light-headedness or fatigue later in the day.

FAQ

How should I prepare?

Go easy on the caffeine or any other stimulants on the day of your float. We’d also recommend you don’t shave or wear any makeup. Drink at least 500mls of water an hour before your session.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring a towel and an open mind. When you book, we’ll ping you an email with some tips and advice on prepping for your first session

Do I need a bathing suit?

We at recommend a minimum of at least underwear when using our sauna's for health and safety reasons, but be sure to put down a towel to absorb your sweat. Men typically wear workout or swim trunks; women typically wear workout shorts and a tank top or sports bra. Going nude vs. wearing minimal clothing will not alter the effectiveness of your sauna session.

What do I do after my session?

Try to take some time (even a few minutes) for yourself.

How long is a session?

Most people partake in a 30 minute session but 45 minute sessions are also available. We recommend 3-4 times a week, but it is safe to use every day and at whatever heat suits you best.

What is EMF? Is it harmful to the body?

EMF (electric and magnetic fields) are waves of electric and magnetic energy radiating through space. High EMF levels are often associated with power lines. EMF is everywhere in our homes and offices. The electrical appliances we use (an electric can opener at close range emits substantial EMFs), computers, monitors, keyboards and mice, wireless modems, cordless phones, clock radios, hair dryers, mobile phones, microwave ovens and more – all produce EMFs. Although the current scientific evidence provides no definitive answers regarding EMF, there is enough uncertainty that some people want to reduce their exposure to EMF. For that reason, we have limited the levels of EMF from our heaters as much as possible.

Does infrared technology interfere with implants (metal, silicone, etc.)?

Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.

Do I need to book online?

Yes. We require all sessions are made in advance by appointment, please and thank you.
